Collective performance directed by Yolanda Benalba, 2020

Facilitated between February and March 2020 by Yolanda Benalba and Ilazki de Portuondo at MUCA Campus (Mexico City) as part of the project El grito en Pedir lo Imposible, Second Biennial of Arts and Design UNAM.

”We launched a public call for feminist and cuir (queer) identities, between December 2019 and January 2020, with the idea to cry out complaints and claims about human rights, sexual, reproductive and labor rights. The result was a hybrid group made up of activists and creators from different disciplines and fields of study with an age range between 20 and 63 years. ”

”As an incantation, we healed shared feelings through the construction of a common body full of strengths, which allowed us to cry out together. This common body —which is in turn crying out, reclaiming, marching, bodies that walk together or the same cast of performers— is a metaphor that I reiterate in other pieces.”
